PFC Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell
PFC Maybelle Rutland Tanner Campbell currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia. Her hometown is Forsyth, Georgia. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on 4 August 1943 at Fort Des Moines, Iowa and was discharged from the Army after serving overseas with the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. In June 2018, she took a Dream Flight in a restored 1940’s Boeing Stearman open cockpit biplane from World War II. (Sponsored by Ageless Dream Foundation)
PFC Elizabeth Bernice Barker Johnson
PFC Elizabeth Bernice Barker Johnson currently lives in Hickory, North Carolina. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on 11 March 1943 from her hometown of Elkin, North Carolina. She was trained as a truck driver at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. “On several occasions, I would transport soldiers by moonlight to the train station, so we would not be detected by anyone.” PFC Barker was discharged in March of 1945 after serving overseas with the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. After her discharge, she attended Winston Salem State University, and graduated in 1949 with a BS degree in Education.
CPL Lena Derriecott Bell King
CPL Lena Derrieott Bell King currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on 23 November 1943 from her home of residence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania she was discharged after serving overseas with the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion in the motor pool. Became a nurse, worked at VA and other hospitals, won an Army Fashion Design Scholarship, was a business owner, studied Pharmacology, with Kaiser Permanent , and worked in the Neurosurgery Department a UCLA Hospital and retired as a nurse with Kaiser Permanente. Lives in Las Vegas, Nevada.
PVT Anna Mae Wilson Robertson
PVT Anna Mae Wilson Robertson was born Mississippi moved to Arkansas as child. Currently lives in of Wisconsin. Her mother died when she and her brother were young. As orphans they moved around a great deal. For self-sufficiency her brother joined the navy and she joined the Army in March 1943, served with the 6888th Postal Battalion, and was honorably discharged February 1945 at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. and her brother joined the navy. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on 12 March 1943. After the service she married and worked a nursing assistant for various VA Hospitals and other hospitals. She is the matriarch of seven daughters, one son, 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
PFC Delores L. Ruddock
PFC Delores L. Ruddock currently lives in Mount Rainer, Maryland. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps in October of 1943 in Washington DC then trained as a Postal Clerk at Des Moines, Iowa and was discharged in 1946 after serving overseas with the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion. PFC Ruddock’s first duty assignment was a Stock Clerk at Camp Sill, Oklahoma. After her discharge she used the GI Bill to receive training in Fashion design in New York; later she worked in a bank. New York; later she worked in a bank.

SGT Hilda P. Griggs currently lives in Gloucester Twp. She enlisted in the Women’s Army Corps on 8 Dec 1943 from Philadelphia, PA. She was trained as a postal clerk at Fort Des Moines, Iowa.
